Off-site in out of ordinary projects

Off-site construction is an exciting field that is revolutionizing the construction industry by providing innovative concept and delivery opportunities. Thanks to controlled industrialization, this construction method is essential in large-scale projects. Here is a look at its benefits and how it can be integrated into outstanding achievements.

Off-site construction : towards a new way of designing and building

Off-site construction, also know as prefabricated or industrialized construction, means to assembling elements in factory and assembling them directly on site. This approach offers considerables benefits in terms of quality, speed and environmental impact.

1. Reduced time and cost
By producing the components in the factory, the delays due to the weather conditions or site hazards are considerably reduced. The standardization of elements also allows a better cost control and optimization of resources.

2. Guaranteed quality and durability
The prefabricated pods are made in controlled conditions, with rigorous tests at each step of the process. This industiral precision waranty an homogeneous quality and a better longevity of the structure.

3. Reduced environnemental impact
Off-site construction generates up to 90% less waste on site compare to traditional construction. By optimizing the use of materials and limiting transport, it also contributes to a reduced carbon footprint.

4. Architectural innovation and modularity
Thanks to the techniques and materials evolution, off-site construction is no longer synonymous with rigid standardization. The modularity of the elements allow today to adapt each porject to the specific needs of the users and to integrate innovative designs.

Integration in out of the orginary projects

Complex projects, whether large, technical or urgent, particularly benefit from off-site construction. Following they are three concrete examples wich illustrate is effectiveness:

1. University Hospital of Nantes : health and technical requirements
In an hospital environnement, where each detail has to answer of strict standards, the off-site construction allow to assur a good quality while meeting tight deadlines. For the University Hospital of Nantes, BAUDET supplied prefabricated bathrooms that complied with medical and hygienic requirements, guaranteeing quick and efficient implementation.

2. Athletes' Village – Olympic Games 2024 : a sustainable and reusable approach
The Universeine project at Saint-Denis, done to welcome Olympic games 2024 athletes, is a circular construction model. BAUDET has deliver 450 bathroom pods, wich have been dismanteled and reused on other operations after the games, limiting like that environnemental impact of the project.

3. UNIK Housing for the military : speed and modularity
To answer at the emergency needs suitable housing for the armed forces, the UNIK project offers modular, flexible and relocatable solutions. Thanks to prefabrication, the modules were delivered in a record time, providing the military with functional and comfortable living spaces.

A construction model suitable to today’s challenges

Beyond its performance in terms of speed and quality, off-site construction answers the environmental challenges of the building sector.

•    Less waste : Thanks to the fabrication optimase in factory, material scraps are reduced, and packaging is streamlined.
•    Water and energy saving : The prefabrication allows for better control of energy and water consumption, unlike traditional construction sites that are often energy-intensive.
•    Optimized carbon footprint : Less delivery on site, a streamlined production and reuse solutions make off-site a sustainable choice.

The bathrooms pods : A choice consistent with sustainable construction

The bathrooms pods including all those benefits : a fast implementation, low carbon impact and reduced on-site nuisance. With the rise of the circular economy, they also offer the possibility of being moved, modified and relocated according to the evolution of the buildings.

Thanks to those innovations, the off-site construction is a solution for the future, combining performance, durability and modularity. Rethinking ours construction methods, we are contributing to build projects more responsible that are adapted to tomorrow challenges.

Our certifications

BAUDET pays particular attention to designing prefabricated bathrooms that comply with construction standards.

  • certified by the CSTB, our bathrooms meet all technical standards and certifications
  • our 2 construction principles have FDES (An Environmental and Sanitary Declaration Chart) certifying that our products are sustainable and limit their impact on the environment.
